Graphic Design
Incorporating graphic design in your marketing efforts is crucial to building a successful brand. Graphic design is an area that allows your brand to be creative and broadcast messages to your audience on a variety of platforms. Graphic design is all about the visual aspect of your brand, so be sure that your imagery reflects your overall brand. Types of graphics may include but are not limited to print graphics such as flyers, posters, brochures, lawn signs, mailers, etc, and digital graphics such as advertisements, digital signage, social media graphics, emails, etc.
There are so many fonts to choose from, but just remember to choose fonts that work well together. Using too many drastically different fonts can draw attention away from your main message. Using too many logos can be distracting to your audience, so we recommend limiting logos to three maximum! If you have an event with many sponsored hosts listing them out via text is a great option.
Remember the saying, opposites attract? Well, this applies to graphic design as well! Using contrasting colors in a graphic can create an eye-catching design that audiences will remember.
Integrating icons into your design when appropriate will not only switch things up from fonts and photos, but it is a great way for audiences to interact and engage with your graphic design. Utilizing photos are a great way to help show the experience for your audience.
You may think that white space is boring or dull, but the minimalist vibe of white backgrounds and fonts can simplify the design and get your message out more clearly.
Utilizing a color palette in your design will make the design more fluid throughout. Color palettes were designed to be pleasing to the eye; use this tip to your advantage!
What are you trying to accomplish with the design? How do you want your graphic to make people feel? The beauty of using several different elements throughout your design is having the ability to tell a story through images and text.
Font choice, size, and placement are crucial to relaying messages to your audience. It is important that the text in the design is easy to read and pleasant to look at; this starts with the font. Font choices should be consistent throughout your organization's brand. It may seem fun to add cursive and bold fonts, and in some cases, this might be appropriate but be sure that your logo font styles are consistent and are working toward your brand’s goals.
Did you know that different colors make us feel different types of ways? Use color with caution, as it should go along with your message, images, fonts, and brand. Not sure what colors to use? Try sticking with a color palette, so that your choices won’t clash.
You don’t go into giving a presentation without a plan; this goes for graphic design too! Planning out the design to have key information emphasized and messages prioritized throughout, will lead to a successful project.
All of the elements in graphic design should work together to complement one another. When text, images, colors, and fonts flow, your graphic is sure to stand out to viewers!
